Brieana Davison, CPM LM
About Me:
Brieana Davison (She/They) is a Certified Professional Midwife + Licensed Midwife, holding a License in Minnesota + Wisconsin. Originally from Los Angeles, CA (occupied Tongva land), she graduated in 2009 from The Art Institute of CA LA with a Bachelors of Science in Digital Film and Video Production. They then went on to have their first pregnancy and birth experience with their first child in 2010 and absolutely fell in love with the process. She became a Certificated Lactation Educator (CLE) in 2011. After the birth of her second child, she knew there had to be a different way to experience pregnancy and childbirth. They then became a Doula in 2014 and began attending births in the doula role. She also worked for a fertility clinic as a Third Party Coordinator for 9 years supporting families through their preconception and donor journeys and has even been a surrogate herself, for a friend.
Brieana started their midwifery journey officially in 2018 where they enrolled at National Midwifery Institute and started attending births in the Assist role at a very busy birth center on Sunset Blvd in Los Angeles, CA. She then started her primary phase at the birth center and with a homebirth practice, while working as a birth assistant for various other practices in the area. Brieana moved to Minneapolis, MN (occupied Dakota + Ojibwe land) in April 2020 and switched to an apprentice based program called the PEP process. They attended homebirths as a birth assistant and Primary Midwife Under Supervision with various Midwives throughout the cities and into WI as well as a birth center in the cities where they finished up their final catches and became a Certified Professional Midwife + Licensed Midwife.
Brieana really enjoys supporting families in their pregnancy and birthing time. They love that each birth process unfolds in its own special way. Brieana practices from a place of harm reduction and true informed consent. Her favorite part about homebirth is coming into each family’s unique spaces and feels very grateful to be a part of and support these wonderful and life changing moments. They support families from all walks of life and familial structures. She has also done a lot of work around providing trauma informed and culturally competent care.
Another passion of Brieana’s is fertility + conception. They have been doing fertility and conception care since 2019 with a primary focus on Intrauterine Insemination (IUI), queer conception, single parent by choice conception and fertility tracking.
When they are not attending births, you can find them in their garden, hiking, camping, reading, enjoying tea from their collection or tending to their vegetable garden. She currently lives in Minneapolis with her Partner, two kids, two dogs, cat and extensive houseplant collection.
