I am the mother of two small boys, birthed in 2 very different ways, but one thing was consistent with both of them, I felt truly unsupported. I left my birth experience feeling like I was just a number. My partner had no idea how to help me in labor. We took the classes and read the books, but when it came down to giving birth, it all went out the window. I specialize in education and trauma informed care for my style of practice as well as comfort measures.
While I was in labor with my second son, I had mentioned to the nurse that I was a CLE (Certified Lactation Educator) and would like to get more involved in helping birthing persons and families through the birthing process so they didn’t feel as lost as I have felt. She then proceeded to tell me what a Doula was. In that moment, I discovered what direction I wanted to take towards improving the experience for birthers. I found this wonderful job where I am able to support birthing people and families in having the best possible birth experience. I truly work with supporting each family’s unique desired outcome. I am also currently studying to be a Midwife, I started in Los Angeles and just recently made the move to the Twin Cities area in Minnesota.
My first love being Film and Photography, I have found a way to incorporate that into my birth work with Birth Photography/videography, Fresh 48 and more. My first degree being in Digital Film and Video Production and my love for birth, I can bring you the best of both those worlds.
I have since gone on a surrogacy journey with the most wonderful provider team. You can read about it starting here. I was able to apply my years of experience and knowledge along with my wonderful Doula and Midwife team to have an informed pregnancy and birth.
